My Dream
My dream: creating solidarity, reaching agreements, and accepting differences
Part of the accolades I have amassed over the past five decades with you is intermingled with the myriad of messages I shared with you in the form of poems and songs regarding our common pains. Common social and historical pains. common torments that at times were the fruits of our own creation. I have no doubt that we all have learned that life means marching on after every failure, life means sprouting after every Fall, It means rebuilding after every destruction, that’s what life is all about….
During this half century worth of my journey, you, my compatriots, have accompanied and harmonized with me, have sympathized with me, have encouraged me in unison. Today, empowered with your support, I want to speak with you about a united effort, or rather a group commitment. A task that sets out for us three principles: the goal, the reality and the responsibility. And why do I say teamwork and collaboration, because, whether we like it or not, we are all Iranians and we have a common love and deep feelings for our country. That united and shared emotion of pure love, in our heart and soul for the fate of our land.
As you are well aware, from the beginning, the goal of Ayeneh Foundation’s radio and television network was to increase education, awareness and prevention with regard to the disease of addiction. Our focus was on those who are suffering from this disease. But we realized that the scope of the destruction of this disease is wider than what we thought. Furthermore, our understanding of this disease and its victims was quite different. As we studied this disease further, we learned that the nature of the disease of addiction is not limited to the consumption of addictive substances, but it also involves certain destructive behavioral habits, both individual and social. Characteristics and behaviors that all of us are familiar with and witness all around us.
I have shared these issues in order to get to the point of what we will share with you in a series of programs which will air from Ayeneh Media. Please keep in mind that my goal and that of my colleagues is not to dictate, our goal is not to direct, we do not tell you how to think, what to say or what to do, because every one of you have a choice. It is you who can consciously recognize and make informed decisions.
